User Agreement
By editing The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki, you agree to abide by Wikia's Term of Use. This means that by editing or participating here, you agree that:
- You are over 13 years of age.
- You will not abuse, harass, threaten or intimidate other users.
- You will not post or transmit any content that is obscene, pornographic, abusive, offensive, profane, or otherwise violates any law or right of any third party, or content that contains homophobia, ethnic slurs, religious intolerance, or encourages criminal conduct.
- You will not attempt to impersonate another user or person;
- You will not post or transmit any communication or solicitation designed or intended to obtain password, account, or private information from any users.
- You will not post advertisements or solicitations of business.
On the Hunger Games Fanon Wiki, there are certain criteria that we strive to maintain. We expect our users, sysops, and bureaucrats to adhere to these at all times.
Article Creation
- Do not create "Stub" articles intentionally. If you are running out of time, and want to finish it later, place the Stub template on the page and finish it later.
- You are free to write, create, and edit your own articles in this fanon wiki. There's no limit in being a creative writer and editor, so go ahead and begin editing!
- With that being said, we highly suggest you to value quality more than quantity.
General Editing
- Be courteous. If an article is marked with someone's Property tag, do not edit it unless you have their explicit permission. To do so is considered vandalism and will result in a block.
- Check your spelling and grammar. Don't use internet slang (ex. "How r u?" or "c u 2nite"). If you're not 100% sure about the way a word is spelled, type it into Google or Dictionary.com. If you know that you're not the strongest speller, compose your edits in a word processor or web browser which has spell-checking (Firefox 2 and derivatives such as Lolifox, and Opera when ASpell is installed all work).
User Communication
- Be polite and kind to other users. This is a no-brainier.
- Do not talk down to another user. This also applies to sysops. Just because they have a few extra buttons, doesn't make you any better than the new user that has only been here an hour.
- If you sense tension or an argument building, disengage from the conversation.
- If there is a certain user you don't get along with, and you know it, avoid them.
- Do not go looking to stir up trouble just because you dislike someone or something written on the wiki. Remember, your opinion isn't the law, and you don't have to force it down someone's throat.
- Be helpful. If something you read doesn't quite make sense, or you have a great idea that would compliment one a user is writing on, tell them, but tell them in a polite, considerate manner.
Sysop Communication
- Do not forgo warnings. If a policy requires a warning, or even two warnings, before action is taken, give them out. Ignoring that step is reserved for only the most extreme cases.
- Be helpful. As a sysop, users regard you automatically as someone authoritative. Always help them out whenever you can.
- Avoid bias. Do not reprimand one user for breaking the rules, but then overlook your buddy's own rule breaking.
Rules
- Minimal swearing, in case of younger audiences.
- Treat members respectfully. No hurtful comments. No discrimination of race, gender, sexuality, etc. If the user continues to be disrespectful or discriminatory after three warnings from admins, they will be banned. No blackmailing, as well.
- Editing other users' pages without their permission, except for administrators' housekeeping edits, is highly discouraged, even if it is done in good faith. If the user continues to edit others' pages and add information that isn't from the creator themselves, they will be banned.
- No spamming, trolling, or any activity related to either. If the user continues on after three warnings from admins, they will be banned.
- No plagiarizing. If that happens after three warnings from admins, then your account will be banned.
- Follow all the terms of Fandom Wikia.
- If a user breaks any of the rules more than three times, you have permission to message an admin or beaurecrat on their message board.
- No explicitly sexual and violent content. If there are undertones of potentially triggering or inappropriate (for younger users) content, then label it as such. For undertones of potentially inappropriate materials label it as 15+ or 18+.
- Breaking the rules more than three times means that an admin has permission to ban you.
Fanfiction Pages Rules
- For FANFICTION: No explicitly sexual or violent content. If there are undertones of material that could be triggering for some folks, then label it as such. If there are undertones that are inappropriate for younger users, then label it as 15+ or 18+.
- Do not plagiarize other people's fanfictions. If it continues after three warnings from admins, then the user will be banned.
- No derogatory, discriminatory content. As in no racist, sexist, any other prejudiced -ists, views should be condoned by the author and the fanfiction.
Discussion Rules
- No discriminatory or explicit content.
- Treat members respectfully. Do not insult other members.
- Do not send out personal information of yourself or others (Addresses, Zip Codes, Homes, etc.)
- No spamming, trolling or any related activities of that kind.
- If users break the Chat rules after three warnings, then they will be banned from the Chat.
This section contains The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki's general policies, which include:
- Deletion policy
- Userpage policy
- Message Wall policy
- Disruption policy
- Image policy
- Blocking policy
- Sockpuppet policy
Deletion policy
Deletion, on The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki, occurs when content on this wiki goes against our rules and policies. Deletion can only be done by a sysop. Despite this, users can mark content for deletion to get a sysop's attention. To do so, one must place the Delete tag. These are the guidelines for doing so.
Deletion Guidelines
- Spam, anything such as blatant advertising, pages of random text, or user pages created by other users.
- Content that does not have any relations to the Hunger Games universe/culture.
- Content which does not conform specific policies such as (though not limited to):
- Images that do not conform to our Image policy.
- Messages against the Message Wall policy.
- Userpages which violate the Userpage policy.
- Pages containing only plagiarised content (if it is just a section of the page that is plagiarised it may simply be removed).
Marked for Deletion
- If your article is marked for deletion do not remove the deletion tag.
- Discuss the article's deletion under the page's comment section.
- An article's deletion must be the unanimous decision of the sysops.
- If deletion is not agreed upon unanimously within one week (7 days) of the tag's posting, the owner of the page, or a sysop, may remove the tag from the article.
Userpage Policy
This policy is for our user and driver pages.
Policy
If a user page meets one of these bullets, it will be deleted.
- Contains vulgar language, offensive material, or inappropriate pictures.
- Contains private information of another user on your driver page UNLESS if the user gave you permission directly.
- Is completely blank.
Generally, the idea is try to actually contribute to the wiki for a while first, then after a while just add something short to detail who you are as an editor. A fair number of our best editors don't even have userpages, most of the userpages created here just feature abuse.
Consequences
This policy is punishable. The following should be used as criteria for determining the proper consequences;
- First offense: Deletion of the userpage + Warning
- Second offense: Deletion of the userpage + 3 day block
- Third offense: Deletion of the user page + 1 week block
- Fourth offense: Deletion of the user page + right to create a user page revoked + 1 month block
- Fifth offense: Permanent block
Message Wall Policy
This policy is for our Message Walls.
Message Walls
- Remain civil at all times.
- Do not remove or edit old messages, the Message Wall is the community's way of viewing the history of messages sent to you, this is an open public community where entire histories should be viewable.
- If your Message Wall is getting large or you want to clean up old messages, you are still free to archive the old ones. You may only archive resolved discussions and discussions older than 3 months.
- Messages can be removed from the Message Wall if they are vulgar comments just used for unreasonable harassment of the user.
Consequences
Violations of this policy are punishable. The following method should be followed for carrying out these consequences;
- First offense: Warning
- Second offense: 3 day block
- Third offense: 1 week block
- Fourth offense: 1 month block
- Fifth offense: Permanent block
Disruption policy
This policy deals with disruptions on the wiki.
Overview
Discussion, rather than unilateral action, is the preferred means of dispute resolution. This means that an individual who opposes the state of a current rule or policy should not attempt to create content on The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki itself proof that the rule does not work. Neither should users vandalize mercilessly, just because they feel offended by the community or any one user.
Types of Disruption
- Outside Disruptions: Outside disruptions happen when users from other sites, wikis, etc., (otherwise known as "anons") come to the The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki and disrupt the daily activity of the wiki. This could be in the form of disrespecting members of the community or it's sysops, stirring up arguments on the blogs, talk pages, Message Walls, chats, or forums, or criticizing the site's policies as their only means of editing (meaning that is their only reason for being on the site).
- Message Wall Disruptions: A message wall disruption is when a user from another site (wiki or other), or a random anon, decides to stir up trouble on a user's message wall (talk page). These will be treated as outside disruptions.
Consequences
Disruptions are treated more severely than other rule breaking, thus making it punishable. The following should be considered guidelines on how to approach the situation;
- First offense: Warning
- Second offense: 1 month block
- Third offense: Permanent block
- Exceptions
- In the case of blatant vandals or trolls from other wikis, an instant permanent block is acceptable.
Image Policy
All images put on The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki should strictly adhere to the Image Policy which will be enforced.
This official The Hunger Games Fanon wiki policy outlines acceptable guidelines for the upload and use of images.
Copyrighted Material
From Wikia Policy;
- "You are solely responsible for the content, including but not limited to photos, profiles information, messages, search results edits, and other content that you upload, publish or display (hereinafter, "submit") on or through the Service, or transmit to or share with other users. You may not submit content to the Service that you did not create or that you not have permission to submit. For submissions to search results pages, you may not submit content that is not compatible with the license used by the particular project of the Service. You understand and agree that the others may, but are not obligated to, edit, delete or remove (without notice) any content from the Service, for any reason or no reason. You also represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, releases, consents, and permissions to direct the Company to copy, store, publish, display, and distribute your content via the Service.
- "The Site is not and shall not function as an archive. We have no liability to you or any other person for loss, damage, or destruction to your content. You are solely responsible at your sole cost and expense for creating backup copies and replacing any content you post or store on the Service or provide to us.
- "When you post content on the Site, you authorize and direct us to make such copies thereof as we deem necessary in order to facilitate the posting and storage of the content on the Site."
Multiple Images
The issue of multiple users using the images of the same faceclaims has often been an issue on this wiki. The policy of this wiki, in regards to this, are as follows.
- It is allowed for more than one user to use the images of the same faceclaim if the following conditions are met;
- Users use a different picture of the same faceclaims. It is prohibited to use the exact same picture.
- If the image was created, from scratch, by the user that uploaded the image.
- If the user paid for the image from a third party source (such as an artist from DeviantArt).
Blocking policy
This is the policy on blocking (also known as "banning").
Terminology
- Blocking: Blocking is the method by which sysops prevent damage to the wiki by preventing the blocked user from editing. On this wiki, blocking is also used as a consequence for breaking one of the various policies.
- Auto Block: Also known as an instant block, or an insta-ban. Reserved for the most extreme cases, it is a block that takes place immediately, without a warning. These are used as a last resort, and only to prevent terrible damage to the wiki.
- Permanent Block: Also known as a perma-ban. Like the auto block, this is a last case scenario tool. It can be used to block the use permanently, or indefinitely from the wiki.
Reasons
The following are reasons to preform a block on a user;
- Persistently making personal attacks.
- Persistent vandalism.
- Persistent gross incivility.
- Persistent harassment.
- Persistent spamming.
- Edit warring or revert warring.
- Breaching the multiple users policy.
- Persistently violating other policies or guidelines.
- Accounts with inappropriate usernames.
Other Notes
- Some policies are more strict than others, and thus, have more harsh blocking measurements. This means that the number of warnings, and the severity of the block, differs from policy to policy.
Sockpuppet policy
Sockpuppets' are alternate usernames created by a registered user. The use of sockpuppets is discouraged on most wikis.
General Notes
Sockpuppetry may be dealt with by administrators if the following bullets apply:
- The use of sockpuppets to get around a ban will result in the sockpuppet username being permanently blocked. At the discretion of the administrators, the length of the original username's block may be extended.
- The use of sockpuppets to create the impression that multiple users support a single user's views will result in the sockpuppet username being permanently blocked and the original user warned. Persistent use of such sockpuppets may be considered disruptive behavior similar to vandalism, however.
- Encouraging friends or online associates to create new user accounts in order to bolster support in a vote or discussion is also heavily discouraged. Users tempted to do this should be aware that if these new users use the same computer or even ISP, they may be found to share an IP address. In this situation, regardless of who is behind the account in reality, it is difficult to tell such new users from sockpuppets of the original user.
- The use of multiple accounts for other reasons may be acceptable. In fact, if a user wishes to run helpful bots, this is necessary so an accidentally out-of-control bot can be blocked while the user is still allowed to edit and so that the bot can be given a bot flag to hide its edits from the recent changes feed. However, the identity of the main user must be specified, and the secondary account cannot be used to vote separately in discussions.
Consequences
Violations of this policy are punishable. The following method should be followed for carrying out these consequences;
- First offense: Permanent block
This is the official Manual of Style for The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki and was established to ensure clean and organized articles. Please take the time to read and use this information as your guidelines.
General Writing Style
- The content of this wiki is expressed in English. This is an English language wiki and all edits are expected to be carried out in English (with exception to the non-English content required via character, group and program names that is based on foreign language).
- Articles should be written in the third person.
Naming policy
Every article must include a parenthetical descriptor for disambiguation purposes. If multiple articles share the same title, the central title should be modified to function as a disambiguation page. The descriptor ought to be an acronym representing the source work (or fictional verse) from which they originate, the complete title of the work, or the creator's name (which can also be simplified to an acronym).
- Example with full name of work: Peeta Mellark (Enigma of the Whispered Soliloquy)
- Example with acronym of the work: Peeta Mellark (EOTWS)
- Example with name of author: Katniss Everdeen (Rikuya)
- Example with name of author: 72nd Hunger Games (RK)
Layout guide
Property template
Before any content is written on any article, the Property template should be added to the top of the page. This will display ownership of the page as well as add it to your user category.
Infoboxes
Special infoboxes are designed for specific types of pages. Infoboxes are meant to give short, important bits of information relating to an article. For example, the Character template reveals a character's age, gender, and occupation, among other small facts.
Infoboxes should be used according to their page types. In other words, a story page needs a story template, a character page needs a character template. Some templates have not been developed yet. If your page requires a template that has not been created, all requests and suggestions should be given to an administrator.
Article structure
Following the insertion of a template, an article should be organized into multiple sections depending on the type of article. The organization structure should be as follows.
Character
- Biography: An account of a character's life and its major events. Should be written in neutral third-person. The biography section can be broken into smaller subsections determined by the author.
- Personality and Description: Describes what the character is like and includes a physical description of them.
- Appearance: Description of the character's physical appearance. Also entails outfits they wear throughout the story.
- Abilities: Description of abilities and skills your character possess.
- Etymology: The meaning behind your character's name.
- Relationships: Lists the significant relationships the character has with others.
- Victims and Alliances: Details the people that have been killed or injured by the character. Also describes the alliances and partnerships your character has been a part of.
- Trivia: Additional information related to your character that do not fit in any of previous sections
Page Edits
When editing, please keep in mind that you can edit specific sections. However, please avoid editing multiple sections of the same page in quick succession. This is known as "edit farming" and it is frowned upon by The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki, especially when it is done intentionally to farm edit counts and/or achievements. If you do wish to edit multiple sections of the page, please click the edit button at the very top of the page to bring up the entire page in the editor.
Image Policy
All images put on The Hunger Games Fanon Wiki should strictly adhere to the Image Policy which will be enforced.
This official The Hunger Games Fanon wiki policy outlines acceptable guidelines for the upload and use of images.
- See Image Policy
Article Property
When you create an article, you may place a {{Property}} tag on it, claiming it as your article.
- If more than one user owns the article, all involved users may place their property tag.
Adding Categories
Categories are one of Wikia most useful tools because they keep the site both organized and helps users navigate through the site easily and efficiently.
That being said, please understand that for the sake of efficiency and consistency, these simple rules have been imposed:
- All categories must be listed in the plural tense (e.g. "Tributes" instead of "Tribute"; "Victors" instead of "Victor"; "Males" instead of "Male").
- When making a category make sure it is something other characters could possibly fall under, if not then the category probably shouldn't be one.
Content rating
Information pages on this wiki must remain from using curse words or substantial profanity. Pages that violate this will be given a warning and eventually deleted if they are not fixed.
Stories are permitted to have cursing, violence, etc. as long as it is not overly explicit and does not detail profanity to an inappropriate level. Stories must be rated according to their level of maturity. The ratings of stories are somewhat similar to movie ratings, and are as follows:
- G: Content is appropriate for all ages of users. No cursing, profanity, or strong violence is used.
- PG: Content is appropriate for most ages. May contain some mildly explicit content.
- PG-13: Moderate amounts of explicit language or themes are used. Not recommended for users under 13 years old.
Types of content
The Hunger Games Wiki is a place for fanfiction and fanon articles relating to ideas or stories created by users. Normal users (that is, users with no sysop powers) are allowed to create stories, personal blogs, and articles relating to anything that is of their own fanon creation (characters, weapons, locations within Panem, etc).
All content on the Hunger Games Fanon Wiki must be relating to the Hunger Games (with the exception of personal blogs). Any content that is part of the official Hunger Games storyline should be written on this wiki.
Users also cannot write guides, policies or rules, canon articles, or spam on pages. These pages will be deleted. If you wish to write a guide, it must be done on a personal blog or in your user namespace.
Canon friendliness
Users have the ability to use their creativity and design fanon, as such, users are allowed to discard what deemed canon in the official material of The Hunger Games Trilogy, with conditions:'
- Users will name their articles with disambiguator
- Users will tag their articles with the Canon to Fanon category.
- Users will not link any mentioned official materials in their fanonized story to the official The Hunger Games Wiki articles.
By fulfilling these conditions, users are allowed to contradict established canon and reimagine them to your heart's content. For example, a fanon story could depict a death scene of Katniss Everdeen during the 74th Hunger Games, and so on.
